About TwoTakes
Our Mission
TwoTakes exists because most Americans aren't extreme — but most news coverage is. We believe that understanding both sides of a story makes you a better citizen, a better neighbor, and a better thinker.
We don't tell you what to think. We show you what each side is actually saying — in their own strongest terms — so you can make up your own mind.
How It Works
Every day, we scan dozens of news sources across the political spectrum — from left to right and everything in between. When multiple outlets cover the same story, we analyze the coverage to surface:
- Two takes — how each side frames the story, written with empathy for both perspectives
- Common ground — where both sides actually agree (there's always something)
- The arguments — each side's strongest points and the other's best rebuttals
- Challenge questions — honest questions that target real weaknesses in each side's position
The Opinion Split Bar
The blue-red bar on each story represents an estimated opinion split — roughly how public opinion divides on this issue. When available, it's backed by polling data and marked as “Poll-Backed.” Otherwise, it's labeled as an “Estimate” based on coverage density, stated positions, and observable indicators.
It's a starting point for understanding, not a definitive measurement.
News for the 70%
Most Americans — roughly 70% — aren't hyperpartisan. They have nuanced views that don't fit neatly into left or right boxes. TwoTakes is built for these people. We believe that when you see both sides presented fairly, you'll often find your own view is more complex than any headline suggests.
What We're Not
We're not a fact-checker. We're not a centrist outlet. We don't editorialize or tell you which side is “right.” We present both perspectives in their strongest, most charitable form and trust you to think for yourself.
